[Medicine] Fisher, John D., "Description of the Distinct, Confluent, and Inoculated Small Pox, Varioloid Disease, Cow Pox, and Chicken Pox", (Boston, Dutton and Wentworth for Wells and Lilly 1829); contemporary drab card boards (front panel detached, spine damaged); First Edition, a landmark. After receiving his degree from the Harvard Medical School in 1825, Fisher spent two years studying in Paris with Laennec, Andral, and Velpeau. This book was prepared from materials Fisher collected in Paris. The printing house where this first edition was produced caught fire, and most of the copies printed were destroyed, so this volume is exceedingly rare. Illustrated with 13 plates copied from paintings rendered at the bedsides of afflicted patients. This copy is nearly disbound, but internally very clean and fresh.
